Hopefully, you are looking to learn how to create easy WordPress niche sites that are PROFITABLE - cause that is what you’ll be learning here today! My name is PotPieGirl (from PotPieGirl.com), and I am about to share with you the simple system I use day after day to create small niche blogs using WordPress.

Are you ready to put together the pieces of this puzzle called internet marketing? Most of you that visit here already have a solid and basic understanding of how internet marketing and affiliate marketing works. You most likely have a Clickbank account, have learned about keywords, understand AdSense… perhaps you’ve already made a few bucks online. That’s great - and that is exactly what I need you to know to get started with me here today.

However, if you’re not quite ‘there’ yet with your understanding of internet marketing, that’s ok! While you may not be ready for the 6 Step Niche System today, you will be soon! And guess what? I’m not going anywhere. This information will be ready for you when YOU are ready for IT!

While we will not be jumping in the proverbial deep end of online marketing, we will be discussing things that are a tad more advanced. Frustration is a killer, so take it slow or at whatever pace you feel comfortable. Each niche site you create will get easier and easier… I promise!

You will be required to make a few investments into your online business with this free tutorial. There are certain things you must have to create these niche sites, and a certain system for creating them that I need to know all participants understand.

How much? That depends on you and how many sites you want to create this first month. As a rough estimate, I would say that all your materials for four niche websites will not cost you more than $100 the first month. After the first month, you can make 4 more niche sites each month that follows for less than $40.

I am all about free, but I realize there comes a time in an internet marketers career when he/she has got to invest in the right tools and services for their business. If you feel it is time for YOU to invest and move your business forward to where it works when YOU DON’T, then keep reading…..

Let’s get started!

I have nicknamed this system the RICHER 6 Step Niche Sites System. Why RICHER? Well, first off… don’t we all want to be a little richer? =) Of course we do! With these gas prices, we all sure can use a few extra bucks.

Mainly, RICHER is an acronym for the 6 steps that are involved in creating WordPress niche sites.

R - Research

I - Invest and Install

C - Create

H - Hell Day (sorry, but I detest this step…lol)

E - Evaluate

R - Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!

This system took me a while to get right. I would say that it is ‘perfected’, but there is no such thing as perfect. However, I can promise you this… IT WORKS.

A few notes:

If you are intimidated of having your own websites, or your own hosting, or installing your own blogs, or ANY of that stuff that is new to you - it is time to let it go. You are perfectly capable of having not only ONE of your own niche sites, but MANY!

Owning your own profit-pulling niche websites on the internet is the key to making money online - passive income. Even a two or three-page niche site can make you good money long after you stopped working on it. I am NOT going to have you creating monsterous websites that are over-whelming with no end to the work in site. We are going to start off creating small ( 5-10 pages) niche sites and letting them start earning you money online while you are working on other things… or DOING other things.

If you are afraid to make mistakes - let that go, too. Mistakes are a sure-fire way to see that you are learning. I’ve got a bunch of crappy websites out there that I am certainly not proud of. Guess I could delete them, right? NO WAY! I love to go back and see how much I’ve learned…and in time, I fix them up.

Relax, take a deep breath…..

Let’s make niche sites!

As much as I would love to tell you that there is no cost involved in owning your own niche websites, it simply is not true. When it comes time that you are ready to own virtual real estate on the internet, please be sure of the costs involved. The good news is that these costs are minimal. I can’t think of another industry that has such low costs involved than internet marketing does.

There are also things I am going to need to know that YOU know. I don’t intend to re-invent the wheel here at 6StepNicheSites.com - I simply want to put the pieces together so you can get rolling along making profitable niche websites. In time, you will tweak this system to make it uniquely yours, but for now, I am sharing my little system. However, the only way this will work is if you know the things I need you to know, and the things I will assume you know as I go through these steps.

Just a quick note: The 6 Step Niche Site System will NOT go into PPC (AdWords or other paid advertising). My goal here is to get each of you with many niche websites that bring you cash each month. My goal is NOT to get you to spend money each and every month to MAKE that money. We are going to have upfront costs and upfront work, but the result will be niche websites that work for YOU when they are complete.

Ok, here are the three things you must have before beginning a niche website with the RICHER 6 Step Niche Site System.

1. A low cost and reliable hosting account.

I use HostGator. For less than $10 a month I can host all the websites I want all on that one package! Let’s say I have 40 websites hosted on my one HostGator account - that costs me what, like 25 cents a month!

Yes, there are many other low cost hosting services (that link is to a list of 5 others) and you may choose to go with another company. Your choice. When I refer to hosting accounts here at 6StepNicheSites.com, I will be referring to HostGator hosting, so simply make the adjustments needed for your own hosting. Be sure the hosting account you choose is “WordPress friendly”. I know HostGator is.

I am also known to get on my soapbox about HostGator. Hosting must be reliable and the customer service team must be reachable. Recently, I had issues with about 6 of my sites. Unbeknown to me, all 6 sites were down (and losing me money!) HostGator emailed me and CALLED me to make me aware of the situation and worked closely with me to get my sites back up and running ASAP. I can’t say enough about HostGator. I won’t switch web hosting companies no matter what the ‘deal of the week’ is.

HostGator is also one of the only hosting companies that will allow you to pay month by month (no contracts - no pre-paying - none of that). I have the ‘Baby’ Package and right now, you can get the same hosting package for $7.95 a month through this link. (Oddly, I pay $9.95 a month, but at least my readers will save money…haha!)

2. Domain Names

You will need an inexpensive and high-quality company to purchase your domain names from. I tend to use GoDaddy a good bit - mainly because I previously purchased a lot of domains there and I like keeping them in one place (I am also a creature of habit…haha). I can pay anywhere from $1.99 a year for a .info domain names to $7-$9 a year for a .com domain name. I found a great discount for domain names tho - you can get cheap domain names here (I only use this company now)

3. WordPress GoldMine

I started making WordPress niche sites about November 2007, and folks, I learned it the HARD WAY. I had to Google every single step… I screwed up a LOT… I got some gray hairs, too…haha! Not too long ago I got to thinking that I should write every single step out with pictures and complete steps, tips and hints, and fixes for any possible error that could possibly happen. Thing is, someone beat me to it. When I bought and read WordPress Goldmine, I was in amazement… it was like someone read my mind and made it into a much better WordPress Niche Site guide than I ever could. What was really cool is that author made a TWO PAGE WordPress niche site that generated over $17,000 in about a month! TWO PAGES! And it is still cranking out about $100 a day. Yes, he tells how he did it =)

WordPress Goldmine is perfect for any level of experience of those coming into making and owning WordPress niche sites. COMPLETE newbies to this concept can feel comfortable that this guide will walk you through the whole process - from how to install onto your server, changing themes, plug ins, tweaks … the whole she-bang.

The guide then continues through the concept of content for your site (how much? how?), creating a list or NOT creating a list, where to find great niche ideas, keywords explained for niche sites, how to promote your niche sites, and so much more IN-DEPTH and SOLID information. The author will also show you one of his two-page niche sites. Its impressive and will totally get you motivated.

I do not recommend others to go pay for information very often. Actually, VERY rarely, but this system is awesome, complete, and will cut your learning curve dramatically. In this six step system, if WordPress Goldmine explains the details to a step, I will not re-explain it. You will need to know the information in this ebook.

Get WordPress Goldmine Here, but please, if you have no intention of doing anything with the information that is in this book, don’t waste your money.

4. Squidoo

I will be discussing how to use Squidoo in conjunction with your WordPress niche sites - it works like a charm! If you are unfamiliar with how to create pages in the Squidoo.com website, then please read my Squidoo Profit System. It is a BIG package for a tiny price of $6.97.

If you are brand new to internet marketing, let me share this with you. Squidoo is THE place I send all ‘newbies’ to learn online marketing. Squidoo is free to use (in fact, Squidoo pays YOU to create web pages). Squidoo is the best place to learn how to make one-page free niche ’sites’. During your education on Squidoo, you will learn about keywords, and traffic, and writing web copy, and search engine rankings…all that stuff you need to get your head around before you move on to owning niche websites of your own. These are the things I teach step by step in One Week Marketing. If you are not ready to own your own web sites, but want to learn the things needed to reach that point, read the One Week Marketing Action Plan.

Squidoo is also the ultimate testing ground for niche markets. Your Squidoo lenses (pages) will do all the research you need to make a kick butt WordPress niche site.

Learn Squidoo with Squidoo Profit System.

These are the only things you MUST have to create niche websites with WordPress. As we go thru the steps, I may mention things I use that make my life a lot easier, and the system a lot faster, but these are ‘luxuries’ for me and are not necessary. I will also mention free things I will want you to add to your site or will want you to read, but again, these will be suggestions and not requirements.

Ok - lets answer some common questions about making 6 Step NicheSsites up to this point:

Making Niche Sites - Questions and Answers

Q. ” What If I Need Help?”

A. I am a big helper.. I love to help, but here is my disclaimer - I help those that are willing to help themselves. Please ask me questions anytime - post a comment here, on my blog at PotPieGirl.com, or email me (potpiegirl at potpieworld dot com). But PLEASE, ask me questions for things you can’t seem to figure out, NOT about things you don’t FEEL like figuring out. Please don’t label any email ‘urgent’ in the subject line if it is not life or death, and please - do not spam me. Spam makes me cranky =)

I would also appreciate it if no questions were asked that are answered in WordPress GoldMine. Invest in it, read it, DO IT…. but please do not ask me to reveal details of the information that is contained within that ebook. The author worked hard putting all that together in such a fantastic way - I respect that and will not divulge his information. Don’t try and take the easy way… just read WordPress GoldMine.

Q. “How Much Money Will I Make With Niche Websites?”

A. Oh, I love that question! Let me answer that question with a question… How much money do you WANT to make with niche websites? This is one of few businesses that is almost completely in your control. You will get out of niche websites what you put IN to your niche websites. If you need to make $3000 a month from internet marketing, then you will need to clear about $99 a day. If the best you can manage is a niche site that makes $1 a day, then make 98 more of them =) The sky is the limit, but it won’t happen magically…. this business needs YOU to WORK it.

Q. “Will I Make Money Right Away?”

A. You might. I have had niche sites that started earning me money within days…and I’ve had sites that I have had to tweak and go thru a few ‘Hell Days’ to get any income coming in. That has nothing to do with succeeding or failing - it’s just the reality of the business. For an average tho, it takes the average niche site about 4 months to mature and realize its full potential. Now, this does NOT mean you make ONE niche site and then wait 4 months. No no no… KEEP MAKING THEM! In four months you could have a boatload of niche sites. Just follow the 6 Step System and don’t sweat it. Don’t obsess over stats, don’t obsess over earnings just keep creating the niche sites that very well may change the way your financial life is within a year. How were you doing last year money-wise? How are you doing TODAY money-wise? What if one year from now, it will all be different - and BETTER.

Q. ” How Much Time Is this Going To Take Up?”

I also love this question =) How much time do you WANT to put into making niche websites? That’s your answer. Folks, this is not a get rich, easy, fast, and over-night type thing (but if you find a system like that, please let me know…haha!). The time you put into your online business will be very closely related to the profits you see FROM your internet business.

Q. ” Why Are You Giving Your System Away For Free?”

A. Short answer - because it is the right thing to do.

Long answer - the decision to make this site took a good bit of soul-searching on my part. I asked my readers over at PotPieGirl.com what they thought - should I package and sell it? Should I create a membership site? About 99.9% of all feedback said for me to sell it because they would buy it. What a compliment!

Thing is, in order for the information offered and the time required to complete a package such as that to be proportionate with the price charged, I would feel like just another ‘guru’ who was profiting from others learning curve. I do not want to be that person.

Everything here at 6StepNicheSites.com is information that you could eventually figure out on your own for free as I did. What I want to do is fast-track that learning time, cut about 6 months to a year of researching out of the picture for you, and get you making money online. It’s a real rush! haha!

If you appreciate the information you find here, please share it with others. Also, if you choose to invest in anything I recommend, I would greatly appreciate you clicking my links here to purchase. These little commissions here and there will really help compensate for my time to not only make and maintain this site, but also all the time it took to learn the info I am freely sharing. If you don’t care to use my links, then please don’t. Either way, thank you for being here!

(If you are new to the site, feel free to start at the beginning so you know what we’re doing here. )

All great websites start with good niche market research and keyword research. Notice I said “good” research - not ‘great’ or ‘perfect’ research. With 6 Step Niche Sites, we don’t obsess over that stuff. We know that in time, as we follow all the steps for this WordPress Niche Site system, we will have all the research we need to make our sites great.

The key to great keyword and niche market research are these three things -

1. Do NOT get all caught up in the numbers and the data. Guess what? All those numbers could be horribly wrong (and a lot of times they ARE horribly wrong).

2. Nothing replaces the human brain. While thinking about a niche market, think about the things you would want to know about the niche - think about the things YOU would type into Google to find that information. Chances are, what you would type naturally is the same thing others WILL type to find your niche site.

3. When it’s all said and done, no matter what any other so-called guru tells you, keyword research and niche market research really all lead to one thing - giving you a healthy and educated guess. There are no ’sure things’ when marketing online. You may end up very surprised to see that sometimes the most off-beat niche, the one that does not have the super numbers shown in keyword research, will be the one that knocks your socks off.

While researching niche market ideas - relax! Have fun with it and try to not take it all so literally. There is NO right answer to ‘how many competing pages should a keyword have?” or “Should I search for my keyword with quotes, or no quotes around it in Google?”. Just relax - your brain will be the best tool you will ever own once you have that brain of yours trained to sniff out a niche =)

For the purpose of the RICHER 6 Step Niche Site System, I have made a niche website and an accompanying Squidoo lens (hold your horses, I will show you in due time…haha). I made this site so I could walk through the steps I take while creating WordPress niche sites and you can watch as they are done.

Quick disclaimer: this niche site is still very new. I created it in a few hours one Saturday afternoon. It’s not my best work but it suits its purpose here very well. I didn’t go hog-wild with it as I knew that my stats would get all screwy once I opened it up for learning observation. I also monetized it in various ways so you can see all the different ways you can make money with niche sites.

My Niche Website Idea

The topic of my WordPress niche site is ‘Aloe Vera’. Why? Here’s the thing about niche market research. Remember the time-old question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg”? Well, niche research is like that for me - meaning that sometimes the monetization (affiliate product) comes first, and sometimes my keyword research comes first. In this case, the affiliate product came first.

I was trying out a new affiliate program that offered aloe vera supplements. The affiliate program also had a very nice resource center for their partners to use to help with promotion and sales. Within this affiliate resource area were lots and lots of pre-written articles. Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! I’m telling you, if more vendors took the time to really offer their affiliates REAL resources (such as pre-written content and reviews), people like me would be having a field day promoting FOR them (and making MONEY for them, too!)

Anyway, that is the basis behind the niche market idea research I did for my example WordPress site. Since you’ve already read WordPress GoldMine, you already know all the ways to get niche ideas, follow market trends, and test their viability. I won’t re-invent the wheel… so let’s move on.

I have no doubt that some of you may be wondering….

Did I choose this niche just because the vendor offered pre-written content? HECK NO! That pre-written content is just the shiny thing that got my attention.

Now, the real research begins. I start all my keyword research at the free keyword tool at SEObook.com. In my humble opinion, you can spend lots of money each month on a fancy-dancy keyword tool and still get the same results you can get from a free one. I love the keyword tool at SEObook.com, I use it, I recommend it…. and if I ever meet that man, I will give him a big ol’ hug for making that tool free for all of us.

My Keyword Research

First thing I did was head on over to SEObook.com and enter aloe vera into the search box. When you try this keyword tool, you will see it returns a TON of information about keywords. Search volume on Google, MSN, and Yahoo - Google trends , Yahoo suggest and Google traffic estimator… and my favorite: Google Suggest. You can get an EXCELLENT look at the viability of a keyword from this research tool.

While doing your keyword research, try and choose a “dream keyword” that seems a little ‘far-fetched’, and then a follow up with a main keyword that has your main phrase within it. Then, choose about 5 or 6 runner up keywords. Confused? Let me show you -

For the sake of my example niche site, aloe vera is obviously my main keyword - HOWEVER there is a TON of competition for that broad phrase. I chose these keywords for my niche site:

aloe vera (my ‘dream keyword’ but some day I may want to really go after this phrase)

aloe vera plant (my main keyword based on traffic volume - notice my ‘dream keyword’ is withing my main keyword phrase. This will help me build my site in the chance that I ever want to super-optimize my niche site for the big league words.)

Then I chose:

health benefits of aloe vera

benefits of aloe vera

aloe vera plants

aloe vera supplements

aloe vera sunburn

aloe vera skin products

I did take these words and run them thru Google with the allintitle search operator and the allinanchor search string, too. When you type allintitle:your keyword phrase into Google search, Google will return all the sites it has indexed that have your keyword in their <title> tag. Also allinanchor:your keyword phrase will return all the web pages Google has indexed that have links BACK to their site with that keyword phrase as anchor text. Ladies and Gentlemen, these search results are your REAL competition.

While I take all the above things into account, and I DO look at competing niche sites, I do NOT let myself get over-whelmed by the competition. I hope you don’t either. The idea of building small niche websites is to get info out there on the internet and see how it does. If you shoot every idea you come up with down because there is competition, you will never get a single site online.

Also, competition is a GOOD thing. If there is no competition, there is no market. While doing your keyword research, keep an eye on the Google Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) for Google AdWords ads. If internet marketers are paying for traffic on certain keywords, there is a reason.

Along withAdWords ads seen on search engine returns, there will also be AdWords ads that will be available to be shown on YOUR niche site (if you choose to monetize with AdSense ads).

Monetization of your Niche Site

While I started with a product for my niche site, there are many times I start with keyword ideas and I will need some monetization ideas. I use AdSense a good bit, but I also market a lot of Clickbank products. Try and find at least one digital product to promote on your niche site that has a decent commission. Do this now, during your research step. There is nothing worse than building a whole site and not being able to find a good product to offer with it.

When researching Clickbank products, skip the Clickbank marketplace - it is too doggone annoying to navigate and doesn’t really give you the information you need. Use CB-analytics.com. CB Analytics is a free service that gives the good ‘dirt’ on all the products available for sale on Clickbank. Once you get accustomed to using it and reading their data, you will find this tool very handy. CB Analytics also lets you easily find all the new products that are added to the Clickbank marketplace every day.

Step One Review:

1. Find a Niche Market Idea

2. Identify Keywords

3. Find at least one affiliate product to offer

4. Browse the competition

5. Commit.

Step One Thoughts

While it is very important to do thorough research BEFORE you even buy a domain name for your niche site, please do not get so wrapped up in the exact-ness or perfection of it all. The beauty of the RICHER 6 Step Niche Site System is that in about a month, you will have all the real and ‘perfect’ research you need to dress your niche site up for success. Don’t forget that WordPress is EASY to use, and anything you type today, can be changed tomorrow.

The over-all goal here is to have starting point niche data (entry point data, if you will), a decent product or two to promote, and then get something online. In a month or so, you will come back to this site, tweak it, and then do the ol “set it and forget it” thing.

Do not obsess over this first step. Whats the worst that can happen? You make a site and it barely makes $10 in a whole YEAR. That would suck, wouldn’t it? Sure, that part stinks, but think about this:

a) the site pays for itself.

b) you have built a site that will definitely have Page Rank after that year, and that site will give you a powerful location to link to your OTHER sites.

No matter what, this system is a win-win. You can’t fail unless you don’t try.

Welcome to Step 2 of the 6 Step Niche Site System! In case you’re new here, you might want to start at the beginning to see what we’re up to. We are in the process of learning PotPieGirl’s RICHER 6 Step Niche Site System - and we’re making WordPress niche sites!

Back in Step One of the RICHER 6 Step WordPress Niche Site System, we talked about picking a niche market, the keyword research, and finding monetization ideas. Once all these things are together, the last step of part one was to commit. Now that you are committed to your niche, it’s now time to invest and install.

Many folks get a bit hesitant at this point of creating niche websites. Why? Simply because it is time to break out the credit card and INVEST in their decision. Totally understandable! This is very new territory for many of us, and it is more than ok to feel a bit intimidated by taking your first step into owning virtual real estate. But folks, owning virtual real estate is where the money is!

Time to let go of that fear and take a chance on YOU! There is no better time than RIGHT NOW!

I am a big golfer. I love to hate the game… or maybe I hate to love the game…. haha! Anyway, I play regularly and love to hate every second of it (or I hate to love every second of it?).

Anyway! There is a great golf book that has been out for years. It is called Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect. I am here to tell you that in the ‘perfect’ department, golf and internet marketing have a lot in common! Internet Marketing is not a game of ‘perfect’, either! Don’t wait for everything to be ‘perfect’ before taking the leap…. just jump!

Time To Invest in Your WordPress Niche Sites

At this point in the 6 Step Niche Site System, it is time to invest in a domain name… a ‘home’ for your niche website. You have your list of keywords from Step One - let’s use those to pick a domain name for our niche site.

My example WordPress niche site is revolved around the aloe vera market. I have chosen the following keywords:

aloe vera

aloe vera plant

health benefits of aloe vera

benefits of aloe vera

aloe vera plants

aloe vera supplement

aloe vera sunburn

aloe vera skin benefits

I’m going to take my keyword list and head over to where I can get cheap domain names and try and find an available domain name that suits my needs.

.com, .net, .org, .info…. Does It Matter?

One thing you may notice thru this 6 Step System is that little Miss PotPieGirl is not a ‘trendy’ online marketer. Yes, I know how to use all the snazzy new sites to my benefit. Yes, I am perfectly aware of all 200 or so factors that Google takes into account when ranking your website. Yes, I know too much! haha! Thing is, if I let all these ‘things’ I know over-load my brain when making a simple WordPress niche site, my head would explode!

Successful niche sites come down to solid, online marketing basics. I am not one to jump on the current bandwagon and make ‘one hit wonder’ niche sites…and I don’t want that for your niche sites, either.

When it comes to domain names, ANY domain name can be successful. I can go buy yada-yada-yada.net and have it become a huge success in the iPod market or car parts market or pet food market. However, I know that unless I am willing to REALLY build the yada-yada-yada brand name (as I had to do with PotPieGirl), that everyday consumers may not trust information from my yada-yada-yada website as much as they might trust, and click thru to, ipodsinformation.com, or carpartstoday.net, or purrfect-pet-food.info. Therefor, I highly recommend that the domain name you purchase has something to do with the keywords you are targeting.

What about the whole .com, .net, .info thing? I’m going to answer that very simply. If you think you might possibly someday MAYBE think about trying to sell that domain name - get a .com. However, if you are not concerned with the after-market of that domain name - then get whatever you want.

If you plan to market that domain name OFF line - get a .com. Consumers associate all websites as .com’s - and getting anything other than a .com will mess things up for your off line marketing.

Yes, in the long run, and without over-complicating things, it is that simple.

Dashes or Underscores In My Domain Name?

Again, I’ll make this simple.

1st choice is neither hyphens nor underscores.

2nd choice is hyphens. Google recognizes hypens (dashes) as a space, however Google indexes underscores.

3rd choice is underscores. Personally, I do not use them under any circumstances, but that is my preference.

I’m sure there are many opinions on all this. My theory is this… EzineArticles.com ranks VERY highly for many, many keywords, right? So tell me, what does the domain name ezinearticles.com have to do with 99% of the topics that they rank so highly for? Nothing - but the web page url DOES have to do with the keywords they are ranked for. Does EzineArticles.com use hypens or underscores? I think you know the answer.

Domain Name, Hosting, and Wordpress Installation for Niche Sites

For your very first WordPress niche site, you will want to take these steps in this order:

1) Get your domain name

2) Get your hosting

3) Install WordPress on your domain

4) Install desired WordPress theme and niche site plug ins.

Now, that is a VERY simplified way of explaining what may feel like a BIG deal the first time you try it. Don’t be afraid or intimidated by what you don’t know. All you need to do is learn it - and you own it. Buying a domain name, adding it to your own hosting account, installing WordPress, and then adding a theme and plugins will end up taking you about 30 minutes TOPS once you know what you’re doing. The first time I did it I was petrified. I just KNEW it would be hard or too ‘techy’ for a total NON-techy person like me.

It is NOT hard. I was actually amazed that is was that easy. It was so simple that I was sure I screwed it up! haha!

The fast steps are:

1) Buy your domain and make sure to point your domain name to your hosting account name servers.

2) Go to your hosting account cpanel

3) Add your new domain name in the ‘add on domain’ option

4) Use Fantastico in my cpanel to choose which domain to install WordPress on (fill out a few fields, click a button, and presto - you now have WordPress on your site.)

5) Use my FTP program to install my chosen theme and the niche site WordPress plug ins I like. I have all these things in a file on my computer called “WordPress Stuff” (I know, such a high-tech name, huh? haha!)

6 ) Go to my domain name, log in to the wp-admin backend and dress it up for me.

However, if you have never done this before, even my simple six steps there look too intimidating. That’s ok. I have two GREAT resources that will walk you through the entire process (with pictures). Both of these are fantastic. The WordPress Guide will actually take you further into niche site creation and promotion…and it is flat-out excellent. The other guide is free, and is a good over-view of installation, but not near as in depth. Both guides give a little different angle on creating WordPress niche sites - well worth reading for a complete picture of the entire WordPress Niche Site product. Both ebooks are completely suitable for those learning from the beginning.

What About WordPress Niche Site Themes?

If you do a Google search for free wordpress themes you will find a goldmine of wonderful free themes available online. I tend to be partial to the theme I am using right here on 6StepNicheSites.com. It is called the Dateless Sniper and is from CourtneyTuttle.com. Court has already cleaned the code and made it highly optimized for the purpose of niche sites. This is my personal preference - not a requirement. Just about ANY WordPress theme will work for a profitable niche site.

Step Two Thoughts:

I feel pretty certain that this will be the step that will decide who succeeds with WordPress niche sites, and who does not. Why do I say this? I make that statement simply because I have one definition of ‘failure’. To me, the only way you ‘fail’ is if you don’t try. Making the leap to actually owning your own virtual real estate is scary…. installing WordPress and messing with FTP is intimidating (heck, I didn’t even know what FTP meant when I first started!)… and many folks will refuse to make a small investment in THEMSELVES and wont buy a domain name, or a hosting account….and they won’t make a one-time investment in a proven and solid WordPress niche site guide that literally takes you by the hand and walks you completely through the entire process. Because of those reasons, many folks will stop right here.

Some folks will stop because they simply don’t have the money to invest into their online business right now. I get that - been there, done that! But the main reason many folks will stop right here is this -

It all just seems like too much work.

This IS work, this DOES take effort. There is nothing about making WordPress niche sites that you can’t learn, or that you are incapable of doing.

Most importantly -

There are NO short-cuts to success.

I’ll see ya in Step 3 when you are ready.

You are now reading Step 3. If you are new, please start at the beginning and find out all we’ve learned about creating profitable WordPress niche sites.

If you are continuing from Step 2 - Congrats! and Welcome Back! Step 2 is a tough step for many - it’s the ‘decision-maker step’. Many folks find they are not ready to invest in owning their own WordPress niche sites - or they decide that learning how to install WordPress is much too difficult to try and learn. YOU took the time and learned… and it really wasn’t hard at all, was it? Congrats to you!

Now then, since you are reading Step 3, I feel it is safe to assume that you know what you need to make WordPress niche sites, you’ve done your niche site keyword research, and you’ve got WordPress installed on your site and your theme and plug ins all ready to go! Great! Let’s move forward.

Content Creation Day

The good news is that content creation for a niche site is free to do. Seriously, all you need is Google and your brain. What the goal is for this step of the niche site system is to create about 5 - 7 blog posts of about 300-350 words a piece. If you are not familiar with your niche topic, do some Google searches and gather some research so you feel better equipped to write about the topic.

There are also PLR websites where you can buy pre-written content that you have rights to change and add your name to. Please be sure to change any PLR articles you get. Most likely, these articles have already been used many, many times and you want the content on your niche site to be unique. (Read about using PLR content on a niche site here)

Many folks like this content creation software. Personally, I love it - especially when I am trying to write about a subject that I am not overly familiar with. It is a real time-saver for content creation for niche sites, Squidoo lenses, and articles for article marketing.

Some affiliate programs offer content, too. This can be a wonderful help - just be sure to change the content to make it unique for your site.

However you get your content, be sure to get the keywords you gathered from your keyword research into the titles of each blog post. Also, try and get your keywords within the content of each blog post about once per every 75-100 words or so is a good rule of thumb - but that is not a hard-fast rule.

How Often Do I Post New Content on a Niche Blog?

There are two schools of thought on this - and honestly, I use a combined method of both (I will link to both methods here in a second).

Personally, I usually get all 5 - 7 posts up right away. Fact is, Google will not index every page of your site all at one time so to the search engines, it won’t appear as if a site suddenly appeared in an unnatural fashion. Besides, 5 posts in one day is not extremely unusual. There are many shared blogs around the internet that have different bloggers all posting on the same day. Bottom line, don’t be afraid to put all your starter content up at one time.

The other method is to post a 250-300 word post every day - each with a targeted keyword phrase in the post title. I do this too on my more successful blogs. If I have a new niche blog that starts to earn revenue from AdSense or affiliate sales from just the 5 original pages, I will look at my stats and keyword research and continue to add content. Heck, if 5 pages are good, 15 pages MUST be better, right?

But for right now, get at least 5 posts up on your WordPress niche blog. Be sure to use what is called “keyword sniping”. I will link to complete instructions on this method in a minute. Basically, with keyword sniping, you will choose one or two of your best keywords and make sure each is in every blog post you make. Then make sure those keyword phrases are linked back to the home page of your niche blog. This is good SEO and helps make your niche site just that bit more powerful. I like to use the aLinks WordPress plug in to make this process easier (read about it on my Favorite WordPress Plug Ins Post)

Recommended Reading:

How To Launch a Niche Blog

How Big Does A Niche Site HAVE To Be?

Again, there is no blanket rule for how large a niche website HAS to be in order to be profitable. In the WordPress GoldMine system, Mark talks about he has TWO-PAGE niche sites that absolutely kick a$$ in the profit department. He shows them and shows how to make them….and how to make them profitable. Other successful bloggers will swear you need 20 posts… or 50… or no less than one every day. However, we are talking about small, tightly-focused, and tightly-targeted niche blogs. We are not building huge, time-consuming authority sites - we are building information resource centers that have one or two ‘calls to action’. The ‘call to action’ of your niche blog is your monetization, or a mailing list, or maybe even to click through to another site you own. That decision is up to you, but be sure you have at least ONE ‘call to action’.

As for me, I am all about Marks WordPress System. I’ve been doing what he teaches long before I read his system. When I DID read his system, it was like reading my own ’secret strategy’. Guess it’s not a secret, huh?

Another point worth mentioning - be careful just how much you give away. Yes, this is PotPieGirl saying that - the same woman who is spending hours and hours creating THIS niche site that gives away all the guru’s secrets for free! But seriously, while more is usually better, too much can be simply too much. It is possible to ’shoot yourself in the foot’ by giving away too MUCH free info - and then no one feels the need to buy the book and learn more. Get what I am saying? I’m not saying get all ‘hypey’ in your content - but be careful just how much you give away. Got it?? Good. Let’s move on.

Optimizing Your Niche Site

Hopefully, you read my post about my favorite WordPress plugins for niche sites. On that list was a plug in called AllInOne SEO Pack. Get it. Use it. After adding each post in your blog, be SURE to fill out the fields underneath it in the SEO Pack. Give each post a unique and well-keyworded title. This is the area that will make your title tag ( <title> ) unique. Your title tag is what changes the words you see up to your left in the blue area of your browser. It is also the title for your page that is seen on a Google search result. This is a VERY, VERY important area so be SURE to optimize it. Do not over-look this.

Also, be sure to fill in the description area and give your post some keywords. This gives each post its own unique meta data for keywords and description. Use it.

Once all your posts are in, and your site is monetized and ready to toss out to the world, submit your site to Google WebMaster Tools. By submitting and verifying your site - and giving them a site map - you will allow Google to help YOU. Google will give you great stats about your site and your site map will help ensure that your site gets indexed completely and accurately.

Also be sure you have statcounter, or another free analytics program, installed on your niche blog. Stats are the key to creating a profitable niche blog. You will need to know how often your site is visited, what keywords are used in order to find your site, what pages viewers read, where they came from, etc. Stats are power. Install statcounter.

6StepNicheSites.com Example WordPress Niche Site

Surely by now you are wondering when I am going to link to the test/example niche blog I made to go along with this tutorial website. Have I linked to it already? No, I have not. Why not?

I haven’t linked to the example niche blog mainly because I want you to go through the steps and learn - I don’t want you to copy what you see. I want you to DO what you LEARN. The only ‘wrong’ way to create WordPress niche sites is to NOT CREATE A SITE. Whatever you put online as your first niche site will be right. Better yet, it will be YOURS and it will be the building block that will teach you how to make each following niche site better and more profitable.

I want you to learn - I don’t want you to copy. Got it? Best of all - you are half way done! After this step is complete you have your very own niche website online!!!! A Big round of applause for all of you that have made it this far! I promise, I will let you see my example niche blog - and some others - when all the learning is done =)

Step Three Review

1. Create Content - Either use your brain and Google - use PLR - or use this content creation software. Either way, get unique content on your niche site.

2. Be sure to use the SEO Pack WordPress plug in and optimize your niche blog posts.

3. Make sure you monetize your site and have at least one ‘call to action’ for your niche blog.

4. When your site is ready, submit to Google Webmaster Tools.

5. Add StatCounter to your site to have records of all your niche site activity.

Step Three Thoughts

To me, this is the most exciting step (well, next to making money…haha!). I love to see each new niche site come to life. I love creating and developing and adding the content that will be online working FOR me in future days - it is a real thrill for me. In time, make a goal to eventually be able to hire the content creation part out to others, but in the mean time, just enjoy the creation process!

If you are new to this site, we are learning, step-by-step (and for FREE) how to make small and profitable niche sites with WordPress. Be sure to start at the beginning and work your way through all the steps at your own pace. This information isn’t going anywhere and will be ready when YOU are ready.

By this point in my WordPress niche site system, you have researched keywords for your niche blog, your have installed WordPress on your site, you have created content and prepared your site for the world.

YOU are doing awesome!

This brings us to Step 4 - which I not-so-affectionately call “Hell Day”. My apologies if that nickname is offensive to anyone, but hey, it is what it is =)

Hell Day is promotion day. It is the day you get out there and tell the world about your site. Other than making the niche site itself, Hell Day is THE most important step in this niche site system. Even the very best niche website won’t earn diddly if no one sees it.

Hell Day is about two things - exposing your niche site and creating optimized back links TO your niche site. HOW your site is linked to is uber important. If you want to rank for the phrase wordpress niche sites, each time a quality link TO your site is created using that phrase as the anchor text is helping your site move up in the Google rankings for that search term. While that is a VERY over-simple explanation, it is plenty good enough for the sake of this niche site tutorial. Your goal today, Hell Day, is to generate exposure and back links.

How I Generate Exposure and Back Links for My Niche Sites

This step is going to be very much my personal way of doing this. I have a system I use for Hell Day and it works GREAT for me. Thing is, I use a distribution service that is not free. However, this service is probably one of the BEST purchases I have made for my niche site business efforts.

This service:

1) Distributes UNIQUE versions of my articles all over the internet.

2) Allows me to have unique bio boxes on each unique article - meaning that I can change up the anchor text that links back to my niche site (this is HUGE)

3) Allows me to decide how many unique articles are distributed each day and does it all for me on auto-pilot. Thats right, no hand submitting, no email confirmation stuff… nothing. I submit my content in the form necessary on Hell Day and the system does it all for me from then on out. As of right this moment, I have hundreds of unique articles being distributed each day. How much time does it take me? Not even a second.

4 ) Allows me to HAVE unique versions of my articles to use for other promotion methods (uhhh… think - Squidoo? HubPages? Yeah, now you’re getting it!). Any time I want to create a web page or the like to promote my niche site, I simply go get a unique version of my Hell Day article.

I love this system - and have yet to find anything else like it. So, for the sake of this step, I will need to outline the Hell Day steps I take. You can tweak it as you need and make it work in your own way.

First thing I do on Hell Day for a new niche site is to go into my distribution system and submit my articles in the required format. I also submit a resource/bio box file that is full of unique versions of my article bio box - and each contain optimized anchor text leading to the niche site I am promoting. I set up the system to distribute as I desire - then I am off to Squidoo

Squidoo? Say What?

Yes Squidoo. Squidoo.com is one powerful site that is free to use and pays YOU to use it. On Squidoo, you can make a free one-page web site that focuses in on a subject. On that web page you can have links to your niche site, to your affiliate products, RSS feeds for your niche site, and SO much more. Many of you know about Squidoo, so I won’t beat a dead horse here talking about it. However, if you are new to the whole Squidoo concept, read Squidoo Profit System or All About Squidoo - this one also has information on Free Traffic for Broke Marketers =)

So, I get a unique version of my article from my service and take it with me to Squidoo where I set up at least one lens to promote my niche site. Most of the time I will have more than just the unique article on it - I will add other content - maybe link out directly from the lens to my affiliate product - add video, etc. However, one thing I ALWAYS have on every Squidoo lens for my niche blog is the RSS feed for the niche blog itself. Read this if you don’t know how to add a RSS feed to a squidoo lens

After creating my lens, I am always sure to promote the lens itself. Always promote any web content you make that is designed to promote your niche blog. Always. The better the Page Rank from your lens, the better the link TO your niche blog. Read this if you are having problems with your Squidoo lens.

That is kinda why I call this Hell Day - it feels at times like an endless circle of bookmarking and linking…but it is so worth it.

Other sites you can create free pages like Squidoo are:

HubPages.com

WebOn.com

WebJam.com

When you read the WordPress Guide I love so much, you learned tons of free ways to really promote and optimize your niche site, so I won’t over-kill on the idea - and certainly won’t give Marks secrets and hard work away!

Other than my article distribution service, the only two other article directories I mess with are EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com. Honestly, between my unique articles that go out each day, my Squidoo lenses, and those two article directories, I have a nice little niche blog promotion network going… and that is plenty enough for my starter niche sites. If you need more traffic generation ideas, read this about improving blog traffic from my blog.

So on Hell Day, I am out there writing articles, making lenses, bookmarking and pinging, making HubPages (sometimes), and any other niche-related things I can think of (like forums, etc).

I also do something else that helps my lenses or articles, or even my niche sites get indexed - and another back link.

Blogger Blogs for Niche Site Promotion

When I started with niche blog sites, all were on Blogger. It was a great starting point - but it is just that - a starting point. The goal with a niche site system is to OWN your content - on Blogger you do not own it and it could all be taken away at the whim of the BlogSpot powers that be.

However, I still have a few free Blogger blogs that I use for one main purpose - to talk about lenses I create, articles I write, and niche sites I bring online. Those little posts on my Blogger blogs get indexed quickly, and the well optimized links in the posts bring the spiders to whatever I am talking about. I can also use the RSS feed for THAT free blog on my Squidoo lenses, too (hint hint).

I did a test for Squidoo lenses seeing how long it would take to get a new lens indexed if ALL you did was blog about it. You can read that Google/Squidoo test information through the links below. It is quite interesting =)

We’re following my free, step-by-step method to make profitable WordPress niche websites. If you are new here, why not start at the beginning and take each step at your own pace? There is a LOT of information here - and it all will still be here when YOU are ready.

Here we are, at Step 5 of my 6 Step Niche Site System! Look at you! You now have your very own niche site online - it has content and it is monetized…. and after Step 4 of Hell Day, you have now taken the first big steps to promoting your niche site, getting traffic, and getting those all-important back links to your site.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Now, how hard was that? Think you can do this over and over and over again until you have a huge niche site network? What if you had 50 of these sites and each was making you a simple $5 a day? Thats $250 a day total!!! Would that be ok with you? That is over $7500 a MONTH coming to YOU - on autopilot!

I’m telling ya, online marketing is FUN! Wouldn’t it be great to fall asleep each night KNOWING that there are 50 little niche websites out there that are working away and making you money?

I’m gonna tell you something - it is a DAMN GOOD FEELING!

You have already done the hard part - you made your first niche site! You already have your hosting account that will allow you to host as many niche sites as your little fingers can type out. You already have the wonderful WordPress Niche Site Guide that will hold your hand through each and every step. Now, all you have to do is keep buying those cheap domain names and making more, More, MORE niche sites!

But first - lets get back to Step 5 - I’m getting over-excited and way ahead of myself!

Evaluate Your Niche Website

What I like to do after Step 4 (aka - Hell Day) is complete is to let my new niche site ’simmer’ for a bit. I let Google get my entire site indexed, get my articles and lenses and back links indexed…and then see how things are going.

In my mind, if my new niche site makes any money in the first 7 days of its ‘life’ - things are GREAT. If my new site is getting traffic, things are good…. and if nothing is happening , well, we need some work.

I want to tell you this - and hear me clearly - even if your new niche website has gotten ZERO visitors or ZERO sales - YOU HAVE NOT FAILED. If you went through all the steps, read the recommended reading, and actually put a niche site online - there is no WAY you can fail. All you need is to evaluate and to ‘tweak’.

How Can I Improve My WordPress Niche Site?

If your niche site and your companion Squidoo lens (or lenses) are getting any traffic, some really important information is being gathered for you. Within your statcounter.com stats and on your Squidoo dashboard stats for those lenses, a list of keywords that folks are really using is being generated. This is POWERFUL information.

If some people are finding your niche blog or Squidoo lens because it is found on the third page of a Google search result - what would happen if you were on the FIRST page? You already KNOW people are using that term to find your information - there is no guessing about it. Go back to Hell Day and optimize/promote like crazy for that keyword phrase and BOOST your niche site and/or lens to the top! Or, make a new Squidoo lens… or a new blog post… and USE THAT KEYWORD PHRASE AS THE TITLE. Or, heck - do both!

Build back links to your lens, or niche site, or both, WITH THOSE WORDS AS THE ANCHOR TEXT.

Everything you need to make your niche sites better is right at your finger tips. There is NO keyword research that is more powerful than REAL STATS. Look at your traffic stats, see what keyword phrases are being used to find you, check Google and see where you rank for those phrases, AND MAKE IT BETTER.

Once you set a niche site in motion, it takes on a life of its own. It might take the average niche site about 4-6 months to realize its full potential, but once its there - IT’S THERE.

Make a point to set aside one day per week to do a check up on your niche sites. See who needs attention - and give them the attention they need. In the long run, it will be SO worth it.

Also this - fact is, some niche sites just won’t “pop”. What’s the old 80/20 rule? 20% will earn 80% of the revenue? That can be true with niche websites. Just be sure to create many varying streams of income from your sites and KEEP MAKING NICHE SITES. Reality is, you will be sure to create a niche site that is a BIG success - but you never really know which one it will be until you get them out there.

With a good Hell Day effort, those lower competition keywords can be real money for you. Imagine if your niche site, your Squidoo lenses, your HubPages, and your articles ALL show on the first page of a Google search! Each search return leads to YOUR work. Cha-Ching!

That is your goal. Evaluate your stats - make those stats work FOR you - then set your niche sites in motion to always work FOR you.

Welcome to 6 Step Niche Sites with PotPieGirl. If you’re visiting us for the first time, we are learning how to make WordPress Niche Sites. Why not start at the beginning and take it from the top. All this great information will be ready for you when YOU are ready for IT.

Ok folks, you made it to Step 6! Stand up, take a bow… pat yourself on the back… buy yourself a drink or a new pair of shoes…. or heck, just take a nap! YOU DID IT!

The first niche site is the hardest…and now you’ve done that! Remember feeling a bit intimidated by the whole process? Guess what? NO MORE! You OWN this system now! Whether it took you a week or 6 months to go through this whole process simply does not matter. You Did It.

The Most Important Thing About WordPress Niche Sites

Now, as we are here at Step 6, we are going to talk about the most important element of building niche sites. KEEP MAKING THEM! After you complete each Step 4 (aka Hell Day) and you’re letting the new niche site ’simmer’ - get to researching and creating another niche website.

You can’t have TOO MANY niche websites

Each subsequent niche site you build will be better, because YOU will get better. Each site will be easier to create, too. If every person took the time and put forth the effort as you have, there would be a lot fewer people in the world over-whelmed with bills, the economy, and gas prices. If you can build enough web sites just to pay for your gas each month, tell me, what is that worth to you?

Keep making niche sites.

How I Decide What Topics To Create My Niche Sites On

People think I am nuts, I have so many Squidoo lenses that range in topics from A to Z. Why in the world do I do that? Think about it for a minute now that you have read my niche site system.

I am a FIRM believer that anyone can make money online without a website, without a list, and without money to invest. I have proven that, and I teach others how to do that with my Squidoo Profit System (or All About Squidoo).

But let’s talk about that a bit more…

You come online and learn how to use Squidoo to market online and you make some money. You now have two things -

a) You have revenue coming in from Squidoo that you can now RE-invest into your online business (and you invested none of your household income on that business), and

b) You now have a LOT of little one-page websites and each of these Squidoo lenses is gathering niche keyword research FOR you.

I can just about promise you this - if you have a Squidoo lens that is making any money at all through affiliate sales, creating a WordPress niche blog site to go along with it WILL make you MORE money. AND, you most likely already have Page Rank on that Squidoo lens that will count as a powerful link to your new niche site.

All the information and research you need is right at your fingertips on your Squidoo dashboard.

Now, are you still wondering why I have SO many Squidoo lenses?

Other Ways I Get Ideas for Niche Sites

My brain usually is in over-drive. Besides online marketing, I also run a successful and affordable website optimization company. My online marketing has become that cool thing that makes checks show up in the mail box and puts money in my PayPal account =) I still try to make niche sites whenever I get the chance. I get my ideas from TV, from magazines, from walking around stores, from the newspaper…. sometimes I come across a great online product and I develop the niche site all around the product.

Sometimes, I just mess around with the SEOBook keyword tool and find little words and phrases that spark my interest. Niche ideas are EVERYWHERE. Just stop reading for a second and look around you. Think anyone else would want to buy a computer like yours? Think someone else collects baseball hats or loves candles? If you are in the process of potty-training your two-year-old, or building a deck, or refinishing your cabinets, or creating a home office space…. don’t you think others are, too? Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to find that million dollar niche…. just find solid niche ideas and find those little keywords that will let you enter the market.

There are three basic, and life-changing, things I learned about online marketing…

1) The less pressure you put on yourself, the better you will do.

2) The less you try to sell, the more you will make.

3) The more you give, the more you will receive back.

Don’t get all caught up in dollar amounts, stats, and Page Rank…. get caught up in the quality of your life.

This will be the summary area for 6 Step Niche Sites. Once this site gets moving and I get feedback and questions, I plan to answer them here so all readers can benefit.

Also this is the place where I will show some of my example WordPress niche sites.

My Main Example Niche Site is:

AloeVeraHealthBenefits.info

This niche site is all about the health benefits of aloe vera. You may notice that this site is a .info - and it does just fine, thank you very much =) This little site also has a LOT of monetization going on. I did this with the main purpose of showing you all the different ways a niche site can make you money. It doesn’t have to be just AdSense or just a Clickbank product… get creative and add the products those buying in your niche will be interested in.

I haven’t done as much promoting this site via a Hell Day as I would like. I’ve uh, been kinda busy making this free tutorial website that goes with it

However, this little site has made me money! It’s not quite where I want it yet, but it will get there now that I have a bit of extra time to work it.

I did make this Aloe Vera and IBS Squidoo lens to go with it - and it has done remarkably well all things considered. It is quietly building me a list of keywords that I will target on my niche site when I get back to work on it.

Another neat site I made that has FIVE Squidoo lenses promoting it is this Beginner Acoustic Guitar niche site. This site is also still quite new, but is doing great - especially with FIVE lenses working for it!

Another new site I made with PLR content I purchased is this Gluten Free Bread Recipes site. I haven’t done nearly enough promotion and Hell Day antics on this niche site, but it is actually making me money anyway! What you may also notice is this - the domain name is a typo! Gluten in spelled incorrectly as glutten. Guess what? It still does just fine!

So, go ahead, poke around in these sites. There there for the learning experience =)
