“H” Is For Hell Day - Step Four

Step 4 - ‘H’ is for Hell Day. Welcome Back to the 6 Step Niche Site System. If you are new to this site, we are learning, step-by-step (and for FREE) how to make small and profitable niche sites with WordPress. Be sure to start at the beginning and work your way through all the steps at your own pace. This information isn’t going anywhere and will be ready when YOU are ready.
By this point in my WordPress niche site system, you have researched keywords for your niche blog, your have installed WordPress on your site, you have created content and prepared your site for the world.
YOU are doing awesome!
This brings us to Step 4 - which I not-so-affectionately call “Hell Day”. My apologies if that nickname is offensive to anyone, but hey, it is what it is =)
Hell Day is promotion day. It is the day you get out there and tell the world about your site. Other than making the niche site itself, Hell Day is THE most important step in this niche site system. Even the very best niche website won’t earn diddly if no one sees it.
Hell Day is about two things - exposing your niche site and creating optimized back links TO your niche site. HOW your site is linked to is uber important. If you want to rank for the phrase wordpress niche sites, each time a quality link TO your site is created using that phrase as the anchor text is helping your site move up in the Google rankings for that search term. While that is a VERY over-simple explanation, it is plenty good enough for the sake of this niche site tutorial. Your goal today, Hell Day, is to generate exposure and back links.
How I Generate Exposure and Back Links for My Niche Sites
This step is going to be very much my personal way of doing this. I have a system I use for Hell Day and it works GREAT for me. Thing is, I use a distribution service that is not free. However, this service is probably one of the BEST purchases I have made for my niche site business efforts.
1) Distributes UNIQUE versions of my articles all over the internet.
2) Allows me to have unique bio boxes on each unique article - meaning that I can change up the anchor text that links back to my niche site (this is HUGE)
3) Allows me to decide how many unique articles are distributed each day and does it all for me on auto-pilot. Thats right, no hand submitting, no email confirmation stuff… nothing. I submit my content in the form necessary on Hell Day and the system does it all for me from then on out. As of right this moment, I have hundreds of unique articles being distributed each day. How much time does it take me? Not even a second.
4 ) Allows me to HAVE unique versions of my articles to use for other promotion methods (uhhh… think - Squidoo? HubPages? Yeah, now you’re getting it!). Any time I want to create a web page or the like to promote my niche site, I simply go get a unique version of my Hell Day article.
I love this system - and have yet to find anything else like it. So, for the sake of this step, I will need to outline the Hell Day steps I take. You can tweak it as you need and make it work in your own way.
First thing I do on Hell Day for a new niche site is to go into my distribution system and submit my articles in the required format. I also submit a resource/bio box file that is full of unique versions of my article bio box - and each contain optimized anchor text leading to the niche site I am promoting. I set up the system to distribute as I desire - then I am off to Squidoo
Squidoo? Say What?
Yes Squidoo. Squidoo.com is one powerful site that is free to use and pays YOU to use it. On Squidoo, you can make a free one-page web site that focuses in on a subject. On that web page you can have links to your niche site, to your affiliate products, RSS feeds for your niche site, and SO much more. Many of you know about Squidoo, so I won’t beat a dead horse here talking about it. However, if you are new to the whole Squidoo concept, read Squidoo Profit System or All About Squidoo - this one also has information on Free Traffic for Broke Marketers =)
So, I get a unique version of my article from my service and take it with me to Squidoo where I set up at least one lens to promote my niche site. Most of the time I will have more than just the unique article on it - I will add other content - maybe link out directly from the lens to my affiliate product - add video, etc. However, one thing I ALWAYS have on every Squidoo lens for my niche blog is the RSS feed for the niche blog itself. Read this if you don’t know how to add a RSS feed to a squidoo lens
After creating my lens, I am always sure to promote the lens itself. Always promote any web content you make that is designed to promote your niche blog. Always. The better the Page Rank from your lens, the better the link TO your niche blog. Read this if you are having problems with your Squidoo lens.
That is kinda why I call this Hell Day - it feels at times like an endless circle of bookmarking and linking…but it is so worth it.
Other sites you can create free pages like Squidoo are:
HubPages.com
WebOn.com
WebJam.com
When you read the WordPress Guide I love so much, you learned tons of free ways to really promote and optimize your niche site, so I won’t over-kill on the idea - and certainly won’t give Marks secrets and hard work away!
Other than my article distribution service, the only two other article directories I mess with are EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com. Honestly, between my unique articles that go out each day, my Squidoo lenses, and those two article directories, I have a nice little niche blog promotion network going… and that is plenty enough for my starter niche sites. If you need more traffic generation ideas, read this about improving blog traffic from my blog.
So on Hell Day, I am out there writing articles, making lenses, bookmarking and pinging, making HubPages (sometimes), and any other niche-related things I can think of (like forums, etc).
I also do something else that helps my lenses or articles, or even my niche sites get indexed - and another back link.
Blogger Blogs for Niche Site Promotion
When I started with niche blog sites, all were on Blogger. It was a great starting point - but it is just that - a starting point. The goal with a niche site system is to OWN your content - on Blogger you do not own it and it could all be taken away at the whim of the BlogSpot powers that be.
However, I still have a few free Blogger blogs that I use for one main purpose - to talk about lenses I create, articles I write, and niche sites I bring online. Those little posts on my Blogger blogs get indexed quickly, and the well optimized links in the posts bring the spiders to whatever I am talking about. I can also use the RSS feed for THAT free blog on my Squidoo lenses, too (hint hint).
I did a test for Squidoo lenses seeing how long it would take to get a new lens indexed if ALL you did was blog about it. You can read that Google/Squidoo test information through the links below. It is quite interesting =)

Hello, thanks for the helpful tips! I was wondering what you like about your article distributing service compared to article marketer.
Ron
I have just started using UAW and it’s the best thing that I can suggest for ANY article marketer. If you’re blogging, you just make an article, and it sends your original to your blog, and you get hundreds, sometimes thousands of unique, human written versions of the same article sent out to other sites.
My blog and article have gone from almost non-existent to 6 out of the top 10 on Google for my chosen keywords in less than 3 days!
I’ll be recommending this product for a long time. I’ve never used the “article marketer” you mentioned Ron, but I do know that I’ve never seen this method of making unique articles. It’s not “article spinning” and it’s very easy to do. (But I’m not allowed to say what it is, it’s all part of the member agreement.)
All the best of success in your blogging adventures!
Thanks PotPieGirl
Dave
I have a question for you concerning Unique Article Wizard.
This is a membership site that costs $67 per month…if you’ve got nothing but $0s in your clickbank account, what do you do?
There’s no way you can get THAT MANY backlinks writing your own articles…how about some realitstic tips for those who can’t fork over that kind of money each month.
When I got to the end of this post and read Jane’s comment I almost fell out of my chair.
I do not say this in any kind of mean spirit. I know that many folks are struggling with financial troubles in today’s economy…
But…It sure is difficult to start any kind of business online or off without ANY investment.
Jane your name is linked to a review site for “One Week Marketing”…I am assuming you either do not own or or you have not read it…
If you had you would understand how I almost fell out of my chair…with your comment…
“how about some realitstic tips for those who can’t fork over that kind of money each month.”
That book contained more “free ways” than I have ever seen in my 6 years of IM…
Good luck to you hon in your financial struggles. But take my advise…If you need to go the FREE way and you don’t own “One Week Marketing”…Buy It…
If you own it read it…
Take Care
thanks for this great post. I is a fan of article marketing and have been using article marketing tactics for the past few years. But as my website grow, I have found that writing articles is very tedious and sometime I encounter writer block as well. for those who have problem writing articles, you can try http://ccarticles.com .
I purchased around 300 to 500 articles from their company and the articles is top quality. Then i submit them using the Article Submitter Auto and generate quite a decent of money from it as well
I have a question about UAW. I have several sites that I have run through with it. Most of them have run through the system at least 3-4 times. I was wondering do I keep setting them up to keep running through it as soon as one run completes?
I do not want to keep sending them through if it is going to hurt the site. Many of my sites are on the first page; but I am not number 1. I am like number 4, 10, and 7 on some of my sites.
Would another run of UAW help the site or hurt it? I am trying to get up to the the first spot without hurting the site or causing it to fall off the SE.
Any advice that you have would be great. Thanks for all the information that you provide your readers.
Maria,
Since the backlinks that are created by UAW are created to look natural, I do not see why another run would hurt your site. Remember, google sees good backlinks as a vote to your site. Which is a good thing.
What you could do is create another article (without UAW), and then run it through the wizard, and send that one out. And with that, you will have yet another article, and a ton of new unique articles going out, on a possible different subject, that you want to target for your site.
Since I have what I like to call “a traffic funneling system” where I can multiple sites funneling traffic to my main sites (a main one for each niche), I use a different article for each “funnel” site I have. So for an example, I will use hubpages, squidoo, blogger. (And every so often I will create an article to point towords LIVE ezinearticle articles - they wont be the same, obviously, but they will touch on the same subject to be relevant).
So, then each “funnel” site with have an article going through UAW, to generate backlinks, which will in turn generate higher ranking in google, which in turn generates traffic, which in turn will generate money for me. =)
I hope that sheds some light on what you wanted.
Ciao for now,
Jeff
Okay… all I can say right now is You are the absolute best!
All this information just blows me away and I WILL be purchasing your One week marketing plan as well as the suggestions you spoke about.
One quick question though… could I also use your techniques for a static website too as opposed to blogs?
Thanks a bunch!!
Hi Jennifer,
I’m a OWM owner and have a couple of sites up. I’m slowly learning (I think, lol). I am having a problem that has me stumped. I am trying to put a link to OWM in my first post. Seems to be ok in the html but gets a 404 error when clicked on. When you hover the mouse over, it shows something completely different at the bottom of the browser.
Can you tell me how to solve this. Also any comments on how I’m doing otherwise would be appreciated.
I, too, think you’re awesome and I really appreciate all you do for newbies.
JD
Hey Pot Pie Girl,
Nevermind the previous post. I actually figured it out myself. The one thing I had not done was to update my permalinks after activating the link cloaker.
Works beautifully now.
Many thanks tho!!
JD
